LDWF Nature and Science Center at Port Wonder

 

It’s almost here!  Construction is underway, and you will soon discover Louisiana's wonders at Port Wonder, in Lake Charles, LA.
As a nature and science center connected to the Children’s Museum of Southwest Louisiana,
guests of all ages will enjoy immersive, interactive, and inspiring exhibits.

The Nature and Science Center will foster education, creativity, and environmental stewardship among visitors through interactive,
hands-on exhibits and programs that highlight the state’s rich biodiversity and promote environmental awareness.  

The Nature and Science Center will include:

Educational Exhibits and Programs 
The Nature and Science Center will showcase a series of aquariums, introducing guests to Louisiana’s diverse habitats and the species that live there. Interactive exhibits highlight information about LDWF’s conservation programs, including fish hatcheries, coastal restoration, fisheries management, and a fishing game!

Outdoor Areas
Outdoor spaces are designed for all guests, regardless of ability, to participate in outdoor activities that promote physical and social development. These spaces include a fishing pier on Lake Charles, a pollination garden, and programming areas.

Community Impact Projects
The Nature and Science Center will partner with local schools, organizations, and environmental groups to offer workshops, art, and STEM programs to engage children and families.
